Parent-led practice trust

The legal pages should make Day 1 feel safer, not heavier.

These pages explain the current public practice boundary in plain terms before families start or continue listening practice.

How First English Day uses cookies and local browser storage

2026/06/30

Overview

The First English Day public starter practice is designed to start practice quickly without requiring an account. To make that work, the website may use cookies and local browser storage for essential preferences, language routing, theme choice, and local practice progress.

The current public starter practice does not use advertising cookies or child-targeted behavioral advertising.

Cookies And Local Storage

Cookies are small pieces of data stored by the browser. Local storage is another browser feature that lets a website keep small amounts of information on the device.

In the current starter practice, local storage is especially important because it lets a family resume practice without creating an account.

What We Use

First English Day may use:

  • Essential cookies or storage to keep the website working, route language correctly, remember theme settings, and support security.
  • Local practice storage to remember selected day, completed days, speech speed, follow-read setting, review mode, and optional practice nickname.
  • Local practice-note storage to save parent-entered practice notes on the device until the parent clears or copies them.
  • Local privacy filtering for local notes, household labels, and practice nicknames. Visible save flows discard obvious child-identity or contact-detail clues, including messaging handles, phone, or email clues, before local save.
  • No recording persistence for optional follow-read replay. Recording URLs, audio blobs, and microphone data are not written to cookies, local storage, cross-device databases, cloud storage, or server-side systems, and the starter practice does not request, save, or upload follow-read recordings outside the parent-enabled local replay flow.
  • Authentication cookies only if a parent chooses to use account-related features outside the first public practice flow.
  • Payment cookies where needed for secure checkout, subscription, and plan management.
  • Email provider cookies only where needed to process a parent signup or message.

What We Do Not Use In Starter Practice

The current starter practice does not use:

  • advertising cookies;
  • social-media tracking cookies;
  • child-targeted behavioral advertising;
  • cookies that automatically upload local practice notes;
  • cookies or local storage that require a child's messaging/contact handle, phone number, or email address;
  • cookies or local storage that request, save, upload, or persist optional follow-read recordings;
  • payment cookies outside a parent-initiated checkout or plan-management flow.

Managing Cookies And Local Data

You can control cookies and local storage through your browser settings. You can also clear local practice notes from the practice notes page.

If local storage is deleted or blocked, First English Day may still open, but saved practice progress, selected settings, and local practice notes may disappear.

Changes To This Policy

We will update this policy before introducing materially different analytics, child profiles, persisted recordings, or media uploads.
