How First English Day protects family practice and parent account data
2026/07/22
Overview
First English Day is a complete, parent-led English listening course for young children. A family can start Day 1 without creating an account, keep progress on the device, and optionally use a parent account for continuity and paid access.
This policy describes the current data boundary. It is not a substitute for legal advice. We will update it before materially changing the information we collect or introducing child profiles, uploaded recordings, or new analytics.
What We Collect
During the current starter practice, we keep collection minimal.
- Parent account and contact information: if a parent creates an account, buys a plan, or contacts us, we may process the parent name, email address, account credentials, payment status, and message they choose to send. These parent-contact fields are not a place to send a child's contact handles or private identity details.
- Practice feedback: parents may share practice observations, such as how long it took to reach the first listening prompt, where attention broke, and whether the family wants to return tomorrow.
- Local practice state: the browser may store the selected day, completed days, speech speed, follow-read setting, review mode, and optional practice nickname on the device.
- Parent-confirmed account progress: a signed-in parent may choose to save the minimum completed-day and next-day record needed for continuity. Child identity, practice-note text, recordings, and detailed activity stay out.
- Payment information: Creem processes checkout and payment details. We receive the product, transaction, subscription, and access status needed to provide and support the selected plan; we do not store full card details.
- Local practice notes: practice notes can store the practice date, day, seconds-to-first-sentence, attention break, return signal, and parent note in the browser.
- Optional follow-read replay: if a parent enables follow-read and grants microphone access, the browser can create a short local recording for instant replay. The replay is local only; outside that parent-enabled practice moment, starter practice does not request, save, or upload recording URLs, audio files, or microphone data.
- Basic technical information: hosting and security systems may process standard request information needed to deliver the website, such as IP address, browser type, request URL, and timestamps.
Child Privacy Boundary
First English Day is designed for use by a parent or guardian with a child. The starter practice does not require children to create accounts, submit forms, upload files, or provide identity details.
Please do not send a child's full name, school, photo, address, voice recording, messaging/social handle, phone number, email address, or other identity details in account fields, contact messages, or practice notes. If a parent enters a short practice nickname for encouragement inside the practice flow, it stays in local browser storage unless the parent chooses to copy it into a message. Visible save flows discard obvious child-identity or contact-detail clues before local save.
Local Storage
The public practice flow uses browser storage to keep the experience low friction. Local storage may include:
- current practice day and completed days;
- optional practice nickname;
- speech speed, follow-read, and review-mode preferences;
- local practice-note entries.
This local information stays on the device and is not automatically sent to us. Follow-read recording URLs and audio files are not persisted in local storage, cross-device databases, cloud storage, or server-side systems. Microphone access is requested only after a parent enables the optional follow-read replay in the practice flow. Parents can clear it through browser settings, by clearing site data, or by using the clear control in practice notes when available.
How We Use Information
We use parent-provided information to:
- provide the course, parent account, progress continuity, and paid access;
- respond to support or feedback messages;
- understand whether children reach practice faster than in current tools;
- improve course pacing, curriculum clarity, and parent support;
- protect the website, investigate issues, and keep it running.
We do not use practice notes to build advertising profiles.
What We Do Not Do In Starter Practice
The current starter practice does not:
- require an account before the first practice session;
- require payment before practice;
- ask children to submit personal information;
- ask for a child's messaging/social handle, phone number, or email address;
- sell personal information;
- use advertising cookies or child-targeted behavioral advertising;
- automatically upload local practice logs;
- request, save, or upload optional follow-read recordings outside the parent-enabled local replay flow.
We will update this policy before introducing child profiles, persisted child recordings, media uploads, or analytics beyond what is described here.
Service Providers
First English Day may use service providers to host the website, send email, process waitlist or contact messages, protect the service, and operate related infrastructure. We use these providers to run the product and coordinate the starter-practice communication, not to sell parent or child information.
Retention
Local practice state remains in the browser until the parent clears it. Parent emails and messages are kept only as long as needed for starter-practice coordination, support, product learning, or legal and security needs.
